| Abstract | The Mandriva Club is an online platform providing a set of services to a community of 25000 members willing to take the most of their Mandriva Linux system and to share their knowledge about open-source applications. Since Summer 2005, the Club has been relying entirely upon XWiki Content Management System. Thanks to XWiki, the Club has been enhanced with new services including a multilingual knowledge base featuring social tagging based classification, a blogging area, a collaborative RPMs farm for requesting new RPMs releases and for managing the associated workflow, dedicated spaces for regional communities, multilingual forums, and more. The usage of XWiki let users not only publish and translate contents easily, but also become real builders of the next platform services. The XWiki programming API available from documents favours rapid development of applications upon request of Club members. Members can issue wishes, specifications and application prototypes indeed, directly through the wiki. The XWiki data model design engine is also widely put into practice, currently within a large scale collaborative catalogue of open-source applications with rich descriptions and user reviews. |
